Money Management

Managing your money takes creativity and self-discipline. The rewards are worth it!

  1. Use the web to find the best credit card deal for you – ex. cardweb.com

  2. Limit the number of credit cards you use. If you are in debt, get rid of them!

  3. Join a wholesale club. For a small membership fee you can save a lot of money on a variety of items.

  4. Get a free Internet service provider – ex. Netzo.com.

  5. Make paying off your credit card balance a goal one month at a time so you minimize debt.

  6. Use cash. You’ll spend less!

  7. Take your lunch to work.

  8. Exercise outside in warmer months to save money at the gym.

  9. Avoid shopping as entertainment. Nurture yourself in other ways like going to the park, visiting a museum or watching movies on television.

  10. Stay away from ATM machines if it’s not your bank.

  11. Make your own coffee.

  12. Drink tap water.

  13. Learn how to make a household budget.

  14. Keep track of your spending (Quicken).

  15. Be informed. Interview several money managers to see whose best for you or take a course in accounting or finance. Seek help if you need it.

  16. Watch for hidden charges.

  17. Keep copies of your documents.

  18. Start a new year with a new filing system.

  19. Identify two budget items that you can do without.
